Cermak Health Services of Cook County, an affiliate of the
Cook County Bureau of Health Services, provide an array of on–site
ambulatory and infirmary health services. All detainees processed through
the Department of Corrections intake area receive
medical and mental health screening. Based on the clinical information collected,
the detainee is sent either to the general population or to special medical
housing in Division III and VIII. These special units are staffed by an
on–site physician and nursing personnel 24 hours a day.
Detainees requiring hospitalization are sent to the Bureau hospitals: John H. Stroger of Cook County, Provident and Oak Forest.
