SHERIFF’S POLICE ISSUE 50 TICKETS DURING PROVISO SAFETY CHECK

Tuesday, January 5, 2010 — Cook County Sheriff’s Police issued 50 tickets during a random roadside safety check in Proviso Township, according to the office of Sheriff Thomas J. Dart.

The safety check took place Wednesday night, December 30th, 2009, between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. in the 1300  block of First Avenue.  In all 1,884 vehicles passed through the checkpoint and 265 were stopped and screened by Sheriff’s Police.

Among the tickets issued include four for DUI, four for revoked/suspended license, 23 for no insurance, and numerous tickets for other offenses such as seatbelt and equipment violations.

The Sheriff’s Random Roadside Safety Check Program is conducted regularly across Cook County in an effort to promote safe driving.
