Friday, February 27, 2015An investigation by the Cook County Sheriff’s Central Warrant Unit led to the arrest of a Chicago man wanted in connection with a kidnapping, Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced today.

Jesus SalazarA $500,000 warrant was issued for Jesus Salazar, 33, on December 2, 2014 for aggravated kidnapping, along with a $100,000 warrant for domestic battery and no bond warrant for burglary.

Salazar was wanted in connection with an alleged adult kidnapping that took place in early December, in a case investigated by the Chicago Police Department. The victim of the kidnapping has since been safely returned.

Salazar was taken into custody at approximately 7:50 p.m. on Monday. Central Warrant Unit officers located him at a home on the 4300 block of S. St. Louis Ave. in Chicago after receiving information indicating he was in the area. Officers were told by members of the household that Salazar was not in the home and no longer lived there, only to find him hiding in the basement behind a crevice in the drywall.

Salazar is currently being held without bail at Cook County Jail. His next scheduled court appearance will be at Branch 44 on March 4.

Sheriff Dart reminds the public that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty by the government in a court of law.
