Friday, October 9, 2009 — The Cook County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a 55-year-old man who detectives have determined left harassing messages on the office voicemail of a Cook County Commissioner after a controversial vote.

Donald StrohDonald Stroh is wanted on a charge of telephone harassment. Stroh most recently lived in the 3400 block of North Broadway in Chicago and is known to have lived at several different residences in the Lakeview neighborhood. He is also known to have lived in Lincolnwood and Itasca and may have ties to the Pacific Northwest area.

Sheriff’s detectives determined it was Stroh who left two profane and racist messages on Cook County Commissioner Deborah Sims’ voicemail on Sept. 2, after she cast a deciding vote to keep intact a 1 percent increase in the county sales tax. The caller specifically mentioned that vote while wishing ill will upon her. Stroh has no known ties to Sims or any other elected officials.

Detectives interviewed Stroh’s former neighbors and co-workers, but were unable to find a current residence for him.

Stroh is 5-9, 200 pounds with a heavy build. He has blonde hair and blue eyes. He is charged with one count of telephone harassment, a misdemeanor, and his bond has been set at $20,000.

Anyone with information about Stroh’s whereabouts, can contact detectives at 773-674-4764.
