Bond has been set at $100,000 for a Bellwood man caught selling ecstasy and other drugs from his home, Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced Saturday.

Brandon FloydBrandon Floyd, 26, of the 1100 block of South 31st Avenue in Bellwood, has been charged with possession of between 600 – 1500 pills of ecstasy, a Class X offense; possession of cannabis/30-500 grams; possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of a firearm without a valid firearms owner identification card and possession of ammunition without a valid firearms owner identification card;

 The Cook County Sheriff’s Police Gang Unit began an investigation after receiving a tip that Floyd was selling narcotics out of his residence.  Based on information developed during surveillance and undercover operations, investigators were able to obtain a search warrant for Floyd’s home.  On March 16th, Sheriff’s Police officers along with officers from Bellwood, Calumet City and Chicago Heights Police Departments, searched Floyd’s residence.  Police seized more than 600 ecstasy tablets, two loaded handguns, cash, and various drug paraphernalia.  The estimated street value for the ecstasy pills is more than $12,000.  Floyd was placed under arrest at that time and taken to the Sheriff’s Police headquarters in Maywood for processing.

This is the second ecstasy seizure this month.  On March 9th, Gang Unit investigators arrested Brandon Cribbs, 25, of the 500 block of South 6th Avenue in Maywood after finding 33 ecstasy pills at his home.  Cribbs was charged with possession of between 15 - 200 pills of ecstasy, a Class X offense, possession of cannabis, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Floyd’s next court date is set for April 7th in Maywood.
