Monday, December 20, 2010— A fundraiser is set for Monday night for a 10-year officer with the Cook County Sheriff’s Office who recently underwent an extensive heart procedure, only to learn that he is in need of a heart transplant.

The event for Officer Nick Paolino, of Chicago, is set to take place beginning at 4 p.m. Monday Dec. 20 at Moretti’s Ristorante and Pizzeria, 1645 W. Jackson in Chicago.

Paolino, 35, has worked at the Cook County Jail since 2000. He has not been able to work since undergoing heart surgery and is now going through cardio-rehabilitation. A father of four young children, many officers from across law enforcement are banding together to put on an event to help his family pay medical and other bills while he is unable to work.

Donations will be accepted at the door and all proceeds will go toward his expenses.

For more information, contact Investigator Drake Carpenter at 708-307-6586.
