DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS TRAINING CLASS SET TO GRADUATE TODAY

—Sheriff Thomas J. Dart will preside over the graduation ceremony which is set for 2 p.m. today in the Moraine Rooms of Building M located on the Moraine Valley Community College Campus in Palos Heights. This will mark the beginning of their law enforcement careers as Correctional Officers based at the Cook County Department of Corrections.
Of the 49 cadets in this graduating class, eleven served in the U.S. Military and one individual served in the South African Defense Force from 1992 - 1994. Also graduating is a former professional basketball player who played oversees for eight years in a total of 23 different countries. Sixteen individuals have bachelor and/or associate degrees and one has a master's degree in political science. Additional fields of study include criminal justice, communications, history, sociology and psychology to name a few.
