HARVEY MAN FACES
ATTEMPTED MURDER CHARGES
Wednesday, July 1, 2009 — A Harvey resident is being held on $100,000 bond after being indicted yesterday on attempted murder charges in connection with a Ford Heights shooting, according to the Office of Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart.
Kenneth Neal, 50, of the 200 block of west 154th Street, Harvey, and the victim were attending the same party in late May when they began to argue. Shortly after the argument began, Neal pulled a gun out of his pocket and shot the victim in the neck, which resulted in paralysis from the chest down. Neal and another individual drove the victim to St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights.
The victim originally told police the incident occurred in Chicago Heights and that he only knew the offender as “Dice”. During subsequent interviews, the victim provided police with a description that allowed them to put together a photo line-up, which enabled the victim to identify Neal as his attacker.
Neal’s next scheduled court appearance is July 13th in Markham.
