MAN USES BELT TO BRING WEAPONS INTO COURT BUILDING

Tuesday, September 1, 2009 — An Evergreen Park man is free on bond after he was arrested for attempting to bring numerous weapons into the Daley Center by hiding them in his belt.

Jamie Busk, 38, is charged with unlawful storage of a weapon after he was stopped around 2 p.m. Monday at the entrance near Randolph and Dearborn.

Busk was stopped by courthouse Deputy David Nowacki while going through an x-ray machine because the deputy noticed several metal objects that appeared to be inside of Busk’s belt as it went through the machine. When the deputy inspected the belt, he found a zipper built inside of it and tucked into that belt were several objects.

Among the items found in the belt were a pocket knife and handcuff keys, while the buckle was fashioned so it could also be used as a weapon.

Busk told the deputy he “wore the wrong belt today,” investigators noted.
