Sunday, September 5, 2010— Bond has been set at $500,000 and $20,000 for two Cicero men accused of dealing cocaine, Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced Sunday.

Juan GonzalezJulio Corral

Juan Gonzalez, 55, of the 5300 block of West 30th St. in Cicero, has been charged with one count of delivery of cocaine, 15 – 100 grams, and one count of possession with intent to deliver over 900 grams.  He received a $500,000D bond on Saturday.  Julio Corral, 52, of the 1800 block of South Austin Blvd. in Cicero, has been charged with one count of possession with intent to deliver over 900 grams.  His bond was set for $20,000 cash.  All charges are Class X felonies that carry between six and 30 years.
In mid-August, the Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit developed information related to narcotic trafficking activities in Cicero.  Detectives set up a series of surveillance and intelligence gathering activities targeting two men who were mid-level operatives in a wider drug trafficking organization.

Undercover officers arranged a meeting with Gonzalez and negotiated the purchase of one ounce of powder cocaine.  From there, detectives continued to negotiate for the purchase of larger amounts, culminating in an agreement to purchase two kilos of cocaine for $62,000.

On Sept. 1st at around 12:30 p.m., an undercover officer met Gonzalez at a restaurant in the area of 31st and Laramie Ave. in Cicero.  During the meeting, Gonzalez demanded the officer come to his residence on the 5300 block of West 30th St. to complete the transaction.  Upon hearing this, the arrest team decided to detain Gonzales and his passenger, Corral, when they arrived at the home.

When Gonzalez and Corral exited the vehicle, they were arrested.  Corral dropped a black canvas lunch bag that contained two shrink-wrapped rectangular packages filled with a white powder that appeared to be cocaine.  In total, officers recovered 2,000 grams of powder cocaine with an estimated street value of $600,000.

Sheriff Dart thanked the Narcotics Unit officers, along with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, and the Drug Enforcement Administration for their assistance on this case.
