Monday, December 9, 2013A 23-year-old Michigan man has been charged with promoting prostitution after the Cook County Sheriff’s Vice Unit arrested him during an undercover operation, Sheriff Thomas J. Dart said today.

Maurice ThompsonMaurice Thompson, of Highland Park, Mich., was arrested on Dec. 4 at a hotel near O’Hare International Airport during an undercover operation in response to a advertisement.

During the operation, members of the Vice Unit learned that Thompson had arranged for a date and hotel room for woman for the purpose of engaging in prostitution.

Thompson was charged with promoting prostitution, a class 4 felony. He received a $10,000 bond during a Dec. 7 court hearing at the George N. Leighton Criminal Court Building. His next court date is scheduled for tomorrow (Tuesday) at the Rolling Meadows Courthouse.

Sheriff Dart reminds the public that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty by the government in a court of law.
