SAUK VILLAGE SLAYING

Saturday, September 29, 2012 — The Cook County Sheriff's Police Warrant Unit took a man into custody early Thursday morning who was wanted for first degree murder in a Sauk Village homicide on September 25.
According to police, Charles Bragg III is charged with first degree murder for the death of Zonnie Johnson, 20, of the 22400 block of Clyde Avenue in Sauk Village. Bragg, 19, of Sauk Village, shot and killed Johnson near the intersection of 216th Street and Jeffrey Avenue around 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Sheriff's Police pursued information over a day and half and found Bragg being housed at a home on the 7700 block of S. May in Chicago. After receiving consent from the homeowner, investigators searched the premises and found Bragg hiding in the basement. He was taken into custody without incident.
He will appeared in bond court this morning at the Markham Courthouse.
