Tuesday, June 09, 2009 — Two Palos Park residents have been arrested in connection with at least six burglaries over the past month in the unincorporated Palos Park area, announced the Office of Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart.

Cezary Doniec, 25, of the 10000 block of 127th Street and  Annette Palka, 21, of the 12900 block of Parkside Drive, were arrested and charged with residential burglary.

Doniec and Palka, who are dating,  boldly conducted these burglaries in broad daylight, entering homes while the owners were away, usually during regular working hours.  Palka would stay in front of the residence, acting as a lookout while Doniec would enter the house after breaking a basement window.  It appeared that Doniec would go directly to the master bedroom, taking jewelry and money.  The couple would then sell the jewelry to local jewelry stores.

Detectives from the Cook County Sheriff’s Police Investigations Unit brought Doniec and Palka in for questioning after both were identified through sketches drawn from witness descriptions.  They were again identified through a line-up conducted at Sheriff’s Police Headquarters.

Some of the stolen items have been recovered and identified by the victims.

Bond was set at $25,000 for Doniec and $5,000 for Palka today at the Bridgeview Courthouse.  Their next court date is June 18th.

Sheriff Dart commended the detectives from the Sheriff’s Police Investigations Unit for their hard work in solving this case and thanked officers from the Palos Park Police Department for their assistance.
