Saturday, February 19, 2011—Bond has been set at $500,000 for a man charged with sexually assaulting a child in Worth Township, Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced Saturday.
Spyridon Spyropoulos, 69, of the 10400 block of South Spaulding in Chicago has been charged with one count of predatory criminal sexual assault.
Cook County Sheriff’s Police began investigating after the victim told a parent that Spyropoulos, who was the boyfriend of a relative, was giving out “heart kisses” for gifts. “Heart Kisses” was Spyropoulos’ euphemism for a sexual assault. The victim related that the assaults had taken place over the course of nearly five years, from age seven until eleven. The victim also said Spyropoulos would give expensive gifts and request “heart kisses” based on the cost of the gift. Every gift was worth a minimum of two “heart kisses”. The victim, now 14, did not come forward earlier based on feelings of fault for accepting the gifts from Spyropoulos.
The Cook County Sheriff’s Office does not release identifying details of victims of sexual assaults.
Spyropoulos appeared in Bridgeview bond court on February 17th. His next court date is March 10th in Bridgeview.
