Tammy DobbinA Beecher woman is being held on $100,000 bond after being arrested for bringing a loaded gun – armed with a laser pointer – into a Cook County Courthouse. Tammy Dobbin, 30, was arrested Monday afternoon outside a paternity courtroom at 32 W. Randolph St., where she was attending a hearing with her boyfriend.

Cook County Sheriff’s Deputy Jennifer Matthews was working an x-ray machine at the entrance to the courtrooms when she noticed a solid metal object inside a black book bag. When asked about it, Dobbin said she didn’t know of anything in her bag. But the deputy found a 9mm handgun – which Dobbin then admitted was hers. The gun was loaded with 10 live rounds and was equipped with a laser pointer.

Dobbin, who has no known criminal history, is now charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon – a felony. Her next court hearing is set for July 8.
