SHERIFF’S AND NILES POLICE TO CONDUCT JOINT DUI CHECKPOINT IN NILES TOWNSHIP
Tuesday, March 10, 2009 — In an effort to curb dangerous or drunk driving, the Cook County Sheriff’s Police and the Niles Police Department will conduct a random roadside safety checkpoint in unincorporated Niles Township during the evening hours of Friday, March 13, 2009, according to the Office of Sheriff Thomas J. Dart.
During the safety check, vehicles will be stopped randomly based on the flow of traffic. Drivers will be screened for proper licensing and registration while all vehicles will be checked for equipment and other violations. Also, any suspicious passengers will be subject to scrutiny by police.
The Sheriff’s Random Roadside Safety Check Program is conducted regularly across Cook County in an effort to promote safe driving.
