The Cook County Sheriff's Police Bomb Unit is part of the Emergency Service Bureau. The Bomb Unit is a level 1 Bomb Unit as recognized by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, National Bomb Squad Advisory Board, and the Department of Homeland Security. This designation is given only to full time Bomb Squads that have achieved the highest level of training and proficiancies with the equipment on hand and are able to handle multiple incidents simultaneouly.
The Cook County Sheriff's Police Bomb Unit is located in Maywood, Illinois. The Bomb Unit consist of one Sergeant, eleven Technicians, four of which are Explosives Detection K-9 handlers. Two Bomb Technicians are also Arson / Fire Investigators.

- Bomb Threat Management
- Booby Traps
